On April 26, 1986, reactor number four at the Chernobyl nuclear power facility in what is now Ukraine exploded. The largest civil nuclear disaster in history led to mass evacuations, and long-term health, agricultural, and economic distress. Chernobyl, Pripyat and Poliske has been abandoned, and a 19-mile radius "exclusion zone" established where radiation contamination makes continued habitation dangerous.

It’s been a while coming and we appreciate your patience. Here is the first in a series of reveals about changes and new features you will enjoy in Misery 2.2. MAJOR NOTIONS • Massive tweak of new ways to use items found ingame . Some items can be sharpened now (shovels, swiss army knife, cutlery, grooming kit) - Mutants can be looted only with use of sharp objects: knives, sharpened items or "Hunting Kit" • Added quick-sharpening, with added possibility to use two separate one-usage-left sharpening stones to sharpen a shovel (shovels need two stones usages) • Food cans have to be opened with a sharp object (knives, sharpened items, etc) • The secret purposes of nearly every item you thought for immersion only will become readily apparent. • Hints describe the purposes of items. • Everyday items can now be sharpened and used to assist in getting more out of every item you find. • A specialized Hunters Kit can be used to get the maximum amount of loot from Mutants. Yes, it’s now a viable source of income. • Other makeshift items can also be used when sharpened and degrade with use. • You can now salvage (with the appropriate tools) useable items from broken radios, Geiger counters, etc. reducing the weight of your loot and freeing up resources while in the field or camp. • The more suitable a tool is for use the greater the benefit earned when salvaging items. • Specialized salvage toolkits enable maximum recovery just like the Hunters Kit. ======================== Stay tuned to this page and Facebook for further updates.

SLEEP OVERHAUL The stars at night are so beautiful… sometimes you are out in the zone and just don’t want to head back. You’re not expecting an emission; too bad you just can’t sleep out under the stars… well now you can! Introducing a whole new sleep system featuring your very own tent. You can create your own Home away from home in some nice out of the way spot. HOW IT WORKS Assembling your tent from a combination of old and new materials is easy. Materials include aluminum frames or titanium grid for framing, tarpaulin, ropes and bedroll. You can, of course, just really rough it and roll out your sleeping bag or sleep on your NRC Foil (NEW ITEM). The new Sleep Tier System will give you guidance. tier1: sb/nrc only tier2: tent+sb/tent+nrc tier3: safezone/tent+nrc+sb/beds-in-bases Do you want a night of fitful sleep exposed to the elements and critters wandering nearby? You will be very hungry and feeling a little toasty from stray radiation. Use a tarp and frame and either a NRC foil or sleeping bag and you will sleep better; use foil and sleeping bag in your tent for best rest and wake less hungry and without the tan. Now mind you, a shiny and crinkly Being under your camo tarp muffles the sound and reduces sight line making it safer from further away. You can now set up your own semi-permanent camp if you find the right spot. Inconsiderate stalkers who set up their tents in common pathways are likely to have them vandalized or destroyed by passing NPC’s who don’t feel like going around or jumping over your little Home on the Range. Combine a PDA marked backpack stash and only you will know the location of your secret hideaway and strategic stash of comforts and survival gear. It also matters where you sleep 'in the field' - sleeping in places which are also surge covers also negate penalties. Sleeping on dirty mattresses in beds and camps is quite safe.

YES, MISERY 2.2 IS HAPPENING! We are happy to announce that the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. MISERY modification will be released in a bigger, better and faster format, in the form of version 2.2 in September 2017! To celebrate the imminent release of the new version we have developed a completely new website for the MISERY mod, and although we are still making lots of updates on it, you are more than welcome to take a look and let us know what you think: www.themiserymod.com ALL PREVIOUS VERSIONS REMOVED MISERY 2.x. is compilation of many mods from various mod authors. MDT requests permission from each modder to merge some mod or part of a mod into MISERY. The good folks at Bohemia Interactive alerted us that some files we borrowed from other mods were, in fact, derived from their intellectual property(IP). To be more specific, weapon texture files for saiga, ak_pack and rpk_pack. We have been asked politely to remove those files from MISERY. Throughout development, active MDT members have changed a lot. We are a small team and lack the resources to recompile previous versions of MISERY at this time. Those infringing files were already removed in MISERY 2.2. Effective immediately, we are removing download links to versions of MISERY that currently contain Bohemia Interactive’s IP. Barring unforeseen circumstances, we expect to release MISERY 2.2 within 6 weeks. An exact date will be announced when final preparations have been made along with appropriate promotional materials like videos. We respectfully ask all prior MDT members and/or fans who have torrents or other postings of the MISERY 2.1.x versions remove them pending the release of updated packages which contain proper replacements for the Bohemia Interactive materiel. Do I now need a fu**ing lighter to smoke?! The MISERY mod adds a huge variety of drugs, cigarettes and other medicaments with various effects for you to experiment with. With MISERY 2.2 we implemented a requirement to have a lighter at your disposal in order to fire up your cigars. This is an element that we kept as a surprise (among others) for MISERY 2.2 for the sake of immersion. We considered the option of implementing a half empty lighter in starting gear for all classes, but ultimately decided that it would be fun to make the players figure out what to do themselves. It is too easy to find lighter refiller on loot and it is cheap to buy. It won’t take long to figure out what quest you need to solve, to be able to buy lighter. Also, you can travel to Jupiter map early in game and buy lighter from Hawaian and buy green suit from scientist. It is intended that players go to Jupiter map early in playtrough, solve some easy quest there and return back to Zaton. But in previous releases players were not encouraged enough to leave Zaton early in game, hopefully absence of green suit and lighter might help to consider this as option. At least, this is what we settled upon within the development team. This update is an official merge of all internal patches since the release of MISERY 2.2. Basically, it adresses all reported issues that can be fixed from our side. The team thanks everyone who has shared valuable feedback with us and reported bugs and glitches. This update is for you! "Quality over quantity" was a popular phrase in our MDT forum during the development of MISERY 2. A look at the famous (and drastically expanded) 'ui_equipment.dds' indicates that we are a freakish bunch of ambitious modders. But what do You think? Did we balance it well?
